  • How can I publish a magazine without any publishing experience?

Simple.  You don't need a publishing background since House Hound Publishers is a well established publishing EXPERT.  The IP program offers you a "turnkey" system that provides the production and technical aspects of publishing a magazine.  You get to focus on increasing your revenue by securing new advertisers.

Is an Independent Publisher (IP) Program the same as a Franchise?

Similar, but not the same.  An Independent Publisher Agreement is specific to the Publishing Industry.  In order to publish a local version of an already successful publication, you need to have rights to all templates, logos, artwork, graphics, slogans, etc., as well as the technical knowledge to publish the edition.  The Independent Publisher Program provides just that and more.  Not only do we give you the rights to use all House Hound materials, but we teach you how to launch your own local House Hound Magazine, and we provide the proprietary production systems necessary to successfully create each issue of your magazine.  On an ongoing basis, we continue to perform these technical publishing functions so that you can focus on growing your business.  A franchiser may provide similar services to their franchisees, but the cost structure to invest is different.  Unlike a franchise, the House Hound IP agreement does not charge a "royalty" based on sales.  Overall, we feel that you will find a House Hound Independent Publisher Agreement to be a much better career opportunity.

Is it expensive to establish an IP market?

Not at all.  In fact, a comparison will show you that getting started as an IP with House Hound may be the most economical of all business ventures you are considering.  And certainly the most rewarding.  Initially, an up-front fee is required for the establishment of an IP market.  On an annual basis, a renewal fee is required to continue the IP agreement.  Overall, costs are very low.  No inventory, special tools, hardware, software, infrastructure, staffing, retail space, etc. is needed.  In fact, unlike other business ventures that require a year or more to show a profit, House Hound IPs should generate a profit from their FIRST issue...

How many IPs will you establish during 2008?

While interest has been high due to the overwhelming success of the flagship edition, House Hound Publishers expects to establish only a limited number of IPs this year.  We feel it's important to keep our growth controlled so that we can dedicate our time and resources to ensuring success for our new IP partners.  Several of those IPs are already spoken for.  Therefore, if this is the opportunity you have been searching for, we recommend you don't delay.

How much income can I make as an Independent Publisher?

While each market is different, a fully qualified market with a skilled, hard-working IP should generate a "net revenue" of $175,000 - $200,000 once their market is developed.  A detailed proforma of revenue and expenses is reviewed with each potential IP as part of our initial consultation.

What do I need to do next?

First, don't hesitate.  We have had considerable interest in our innovative IP program.  Next, fill out the "Request Information" form or call our office so that we can schedule a telephone interview.  This will give us an opportunity to answer some of your questions as well as give us an opportunity to get to know you better.  From that point, we will be happy to send you additional information on the details of the Independent Publisher Program, including costs and projected income.

Which Independent Publisher locations are available?

If you "click" on the House Hound locations tab you will find the current markets that are operational for Independent Publishers.  In addition, you will find a link for "additional market opportunities" that we have identified as having met the criteria for a strong potential for success.  This does not however preclude a market of your choosing from being considered.  If you live in a thriving market of at least 50,000 full-time residents and you have ambition, sales ability, business skills, and the desire to achieve professional success, we want to talk with you.
